Even a child doesn't accept to have a bruised ego.
It has been a while since the semester started, but I learned that as a teacher, a part of my job is to make sure I don't hurt my student's ego. Even though the student sometimes doesn't show that he is hurt but deep down he actually is; he defends himself through different mechanisms which may result in severe issues later on as lack of self confidence, but this doesn't mean that we should hurt his feelings with our words and yell at him as well.
As teachers our job is to build our students' personality and develop their self confidence, teach them how to be themselves and express their opinion especially that we can never find any better achievement other than this throughout our career, and we should always keep in mind that even a child doesn't accept to have a bruised ego.
no one accepts that, yet we see a lot of teachers really offending students who are misbehaving in class and embarrassing them in order to have the child silent for the rest of the session, but it just makes things worse.The funny part is that they don't accept that their children are treated this way!!!
ReplyDeleteBuilding a good relationship with our students, helping them to have high self confidence and trying our best to accept them! We don't know if they are facing problems, we don't have any idea about their personal life! let them feel that school is their second home!
ReplyDeleteYour words touch my heart deeply. It is teacher's duty to put her students' need ahead. We should always work hard and do our best to assist students in building their own personality.
ReplyDeleteOf course we, as teachers, should not even think of hurting our students' feelings, but what about OUR feelings? They hurt them so harshly! :'(

We as teachers should understand our students' behaviors and the reason behind why they are behaving this way. Because everyone of us passes everyday through situations that make us change our view in life.That's why, we should be aware of hurting anyone's feelings and especially while dealing with our students.
